Speckles was ready. He was always ready!

Soon as the door opened down the hall, his black nose had pushed through the hole in the door, under the bars. It was always a tight fit, but turning his head to the side allowed him to part his narrow muzzle just enough to give a excited chirp.

Ari was back!

His tail swayed, the long fur at the end parting the newly laid straw on the hard floor beneath flexed toes. The tapping of boots on the concrete floor between the paddocks fell in time with his light and quick chirps.

Soon as his red eyes picked out the young woman, Alistryn’s pupils blew up the size of dinner plates as he took her posture in.

Ari Woods was a woman in her mid twenties with a tan complexion with freckles dotted over her cheeks. Her hair was always something to stare at - Speckles couldn’t fathom why it was dark inside then lighter outside - but now it was neatly tucked up in some kind of bind; much like his lead when it was on.

His gaze searched for bulging pockets, knowing the smile she was giving was a sign of something good to come. Hopefully it’d be in the form of a ride and a slice of that pink circular meat she kept in a bag.

Crimson eyes narrowed, resting on the bent arms that were behind Ari’s back.

That was the only logical place it could be!

With a squeal of impatience echoed by the door shacking from the Sindow’s attempt to be released, Ari laughed quietly.

”Come on!” Alistryn chirped, the noise edging onto a bark to hurry his handler along.

Ari laughed a bit louder, taking her hands from out behind her back to produce the little ziplock bag that held…

Bologna.

If Alistryn could lift this door, he’d certainly do it. His parted maw showed the soft pink insides, a long tongue darting out between needle like teeth as his eyes grew wide.

Shaking her head at the largest Sindow’s behavior, Ari pushed the pebbled snout through the little opening with her free hand.

Working fast, she undid the latch that kept the door shut and secured, before pushing it to the side with a creak of effort.

Alistryn was outside in the hallway immediately, crowding the human woman back with affectionate nudges to the shoulder and cheek. A bundle of noise that was a throbbing purr.

”Did you miss me, or the food?“ Ari asked teasingly, voice soft as he lost her fingers in the white fluff of his small cheek.

A delighted chirp served as an answer, causing her brown eyes to roll in amusement before she shook the bag.

The content of pink meat jumping inside in a way that made the Sindow pull back and jump as well.

”Alistryn, step back,“ the voice held an edge.

White ears perked, crimson eyes flashing to the amused face of the human before back to the bag.

Shaking his long fur, Alistryn laid his ears back and snorted - head ducking as his entire body moved in place.

How come he had to move? Why couldn’t she do it?

”Yo, Speckles,“ Ari shook the clear bag again, earning another stare a keen of protest. ”Step back.“

Figuring he better comply now rather than later, Alistryn eased back a step. His white tufted ears unfurled, showing he wasn’t truly upset. His gaze was locked on those un-furry fingers as they opened the clear bag.

The smell was radiating, his head throwing back as his front paws danced along the dusty concrete. An arrange of barks and chirps left him in a series of high chirps and low barks.

Demanding attention, but acknowledging his need to give the handler space.

He understood completely, space was needed for food to be retrieved from that bag.

Ari looked up at her Sindow and found his happy attitude a relief after having to separate Sethos and Toxic to Love. The trailer had just arrived with the newest member, Red Light Means Go, which meant an introduction was in order.

It took a while before she could trust Sethos with Toxic - a mere ten minutes of hearing the rider complain about being thrown - before she put the two in the hallway over.

Now, if Speckles and Light could get along, everything would be perfect!

Careful of the human’s fingers, Speckles dipped his snout forward when the pink meat was offered. No lips to really grasp the product of some glorious creation, his pink tongue wrapped around the digits before pulling his head back carefully.

With his new found prize, Alistryn bobbed his head and turned away from the human, head high and crest displayed proudly, pranced a few paces down the hallway before walking back.

Ari laughed, wiping her fingers on her shorts from the slobber that was left behind. Only Speckles would hold a piece of bologna proudly and move with grace. Shame he couldn’t eat with the same finesse.

The meat was gone in one swallow, a head jerking movement that she’d compare with a crocodile eating. Her hand had hidden the bag into a pocket of her vest, saving one other piece for if everything went well.

Alistryn purred in content, craning his neck down to hide his face into the left lap of her open vest. It gave Ari the reach she needed to thread her fingers through the white crest on the back of his neck.

It was like digging through warm feathers, trying to push her fingers through the white fur in an attempt to find the pink skin beneath  in that wonderful place behind his ears.

”Alright, Speckles,“ Ari giggled, feeling two years younger when she’d first met the Sindow, ”time to show me what you’ve got… and for the love of bologna, don’t do what Sethos did. Please, I’m begging you.“

Ari was being a bit dramatic like normal, but it was always big when a Sindow threw their rider. She’d warned the man before he got on, that it was a fifty fifty chance of something bad happening… and that was on Sethos’ good day.

Speckles was always a good boy and from her short time with Light, it seemed like a good match.

With a grin of determination, she released her Sindow from the torture of an ear scratch to give his neck a pat, ”Come on, let’s go see the spotted Sindow.“

Alistryn pulled his head away, eyes narrowing suspiciously. Another spotted Sindow? Wasn’t the bay female enough? She’d been endearingly friendly, toying with him. In a way, he was glad she hadn’t come back.

He liked people when he met them, but she’d been… too, friendly. Too, close. Too… everything.

But, he’d gotten something good out of it this time, so with quiet acceptance of the lead being adjusted to his snout, Speckles trusted his handler to show him another Sindow.

Besides… he had caught the way she’d tried to hastily hide the bag earlier. If things went sour, he’d still get something out of it.

Something delicious!
A name and a look for the handler!
